Madeira is an extremely rare wine to find being a unique wine produced in the Madeira island. Madeira Island has volcanic soil and sub-tropical climate with unique grape varieties usually uses four different grape varieties: Boal (medium sweet) - Malmsey (sweet) - Sercial (Dry) - Verdelho (medium Dry).

This has a lovely nose of maturing port, finely styled and just screaming quality. The palate carries a svelte texture, with a creamy, flattering character. There is purity, balance, a clean, bright quality and despite this lots of appealing grip. This has great impact, and yet is so welcoming and alluring. Excellent wine, and a great example of the vintage. (November 2006).
Dense ruby/purple with the Oriental spice-box aroma, the 1985 is an expansive, sweet, broadly flavored wine with outstanding depth, concentration, and balance.

Tasting note: Deep inky ruby with a broad red rim just turning to brick at the edge. Generous and seductive nose redolent of blackcurrant and cherry. Dense, luscious black fruit laced with dark chocolate, liquorice and roasted coffee. Exotic herbal and resiny scents emerge an hour after decanting. Later the fruit becomes more luscious and creamier, with rich raspberry jam flavours overlaying the dark fruity base. The full round palate is supported by thick well-integrated tannins and delivers an abundance of luscious chocolate and blackcurrant flavour which lingers into the long velvety finish.

Full in color with a richness and big depth of fruit. The tannins are softening, to be sure, but there is still lots of body and power that will allow it to improve for many years.
Deep red, but starting to mellow and with a slight lightening on the rim; 90% opaque. Not revealing much on the nose, some redcurrant and perhaps a touch of VA that adds a dose of concentrated perfume to the nose. Modest body, soft tannins balance the sweet raspberry fruit and there is a decent core of acidity. Chewy finish of nut skins and raspberry seeds with an interesting orange zest bitterness.

The Nebbiolo has a lovely earthy bouquet. The nose has cherries, dark cherries, tar and slight dried rose notes. Complex and layered. Nice acidity. Medium tannins still present. Cherries on the palate too. Nice finish. Great food wine. Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

"Recioto," as in "Recioto della Valpolicella," refers to a dessert wine made from grapes that were dried on mats after picking. This process turns the grapes closer to raisins, concentrating the flavors. The wines are lovely and taste how you'd expect raisins-turned-wine to taste, rich and sweet.
